DIY: Light for Kindle

I have a Kindle 4th Generation, cheapest kindle series. The only problem I have with it is, lacking of backlight when reading in dark. Yes, I can pay $200 and buy a Paperwhite with backlight, but I don’t want to pay that much.

But it’s not a big deal:

 Requirements:

  • Coin type battery (CR2023 or similar) and its holder
  • SPDT switch
  • A piece of Veroboard
  • Variable resistor (<570 ohms)
  • White LED
  • Connectors
  • Wire
  • Soldering iron
  • Soldering flux
  • A clip to attach the board to the Kindle

Building process is simple if you know a little about electronics and done soldering before. Just serialize battery, SPDT switch, variable resistor, and the LED.
